A Simple Sonnet of Praise
By Asher McCall
Yield praise, O Earth and all that is therein,
To Him Who made you, gave you life and light,
Who laid your firm foundations with His might—
That fruit you were intended for give Him!
The hope which by neglect you let wax thin
Renew; unto the Lord return your sight
And let you strength be rescued from the night
Which, all around you, you are steeped within.
This praise was won by God the Father's power
Which all creation wrought by day and hour,
And by the Son, Who on th'accursed tree
Died bitterly to set all people free,
And by the Holy Ghost, Who dwells within
To bring to all men faith. Praise Him! Amen.
