Low Church Missouri - Continued...

I lived "Low Church Missouri." It was "non-communion Sundays" and pastors never explaining what anything meant. We didn't know that Lutherans were catholic and instead were fearful of doing anything that looked like it. No one knew that the sign of the cross was in the Small Catechism as a remembrance of baptism, much less did it. It was a banal existence that did not reflect what the Book of Concord confesses, and therefore did not support Lutheran theology. Thankfully, my children have known something that is evangelical and catholic. They know a richness of practice that they embrace because they are Lutheran.
