Liturgy, Eucharist, and the Church

Note: I have a couple minor quibbles with my friend and brother in arms under the cross, the Rev. Dr. John Bombaro, but this On the Line interview with the Rev. Brian Stecker is an outstanding apologetic for authentic Lutheran worship, and an expression of the profound mystery of the Sacrament of the Altar. If you have not listened to this, consider it mandatory! — Ed.

And as a bonus, Fr. Bombaro was recently interviewed again in a podcast mainly devoted to the Shroud of Turin, but which also includes further discussion about the liturgy in the aftermath of the above. And, even if you’re not interested in the Shroud, it is still worth a listen. It’s more than just a recap of scientific studies and arguments. This episode is a beautiful and glorious devotion on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord. My wife and I listed to it on a road-trip, after which we listed to some hymns - and we were struck by how much of our hymnody takes up the theme of light.

Thank you, Pastors Stecker and Bombaro!
