J.S. Bach: The Father of All Modern Music

Rick Beato is a rock and roll musician and historian. He has a popular YouTube channel devoted mainly to rock and roll, heavy metal, classic rock, and guitar. He is also classically-trained, and knows music theory and history, and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in classical and jazz music.

He argues that Johann Sebastian Bach is the father of all modern music. Here are a few videos of interest. The last video is not Rick Beato, but rather a BBC documentary about Bach that Beato mentions in one of his videos.

What a treasure we have in our Lutheran tradition of hymnody! Our heritage is often more appreciated by those outside of our churches than within. And this is a good time to remind everyone of a magnificent contemporary musical project from within our churches called Bach to Church.
