Here’s a little piece I ran across from the Easter 2010 issue I found a bit amusing, and perhaps still timely . . .
Gottesdienst
Minutes of the think-tank session
Meeting of the think-tank, 9 January 2010, called to order at 10:06 a.m. by Chairperson Misty Rekkted. This being the first such meeting, there were no minutes of prior meetings to read.
Chairperson Rekkted opened by thanking the participants to come at her request, to this first such meeting, all in the hopes that Gottesdienst may become more efficient, then opened the floor for suggestions.
Ivan I. Deeiah suggested that all the employees of Gottesdienst should be ordained to a special Gottesdienst ministry dedicated to raising subscription levels.
Noah Don Thyngksoe objected to this idea, since, he reminded the committee, ordination should only pertain to the ministry of the Gospel, not to a publishing house.
Wyatt Seazy replied that this happens all the time in the Missouri Synod, so why can’t we do it too?
Noah Neade asked why we would have to ordain them to make them ministers, reminding the committee that after all, ordination is nothing special.
Soren Peeved objected to this, saying ordination was an act of God according to Acts 8:18, I Timothy 4:14, Numbers 27:18, and other passages.
Paine O. Tenshen replied that we are Christians and therefore free to do whatever we want, including make ministers for whatever purpose we wanted, and appoint them in whatever way we wanted.
Les Dooitte offered that we could go ahead with this plan and hope that nobody notices, as the Missouri Synod also does.
The committee agreed to meet further to discuss plans.
Meeting adjourned at 11:30.
Respectfully submitted,
